How to Know a Job is the Best Fit for You by Ta’Liyah Washington-Wiley

Knowing what job is best suited for you and your interests is imperative to being successful in your career.

  1. Invest in career coaching: Career coaching will allow you to talk with an expert to figure out what career fields are geared toward your interests.
  2. Choose a job in your desired field: Choosing the job in that field defines which skills you are willing to use when you clock into work.
  3. Align the job description to your lifestyle needs: Making sure that the job offers what you need in terms of income, mental health, and work life balance before you commit.
  4. Research the company: Knowing what the company’s mission is and what to expect on the typical workday that may not be featured in the job description.
  5. Observe the workplace culture: This not only shows what kind of people you work with but how you are meant to interact with them on a daily basis (projects, daily tasks, etc.)
