1. Attire:
Dress a level up from the position that you are applying. If the company requires business casual, go for business professional.
2. Preparation:
Make sure to research the company and practice your approach to answering questions. Watch for both verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors.
3. Answering Questions Properly:
Once hearing the question asked, frame your answer to reflect all components of the question. When asked situation-based questions, describe in a manner progressing from conflict, how you confronted it, steps of resolution then the end result.
4. Leave a Good First Impression:
Bring good energy to the interview. Be friendly and show that you want the opportunity being presented to you.
5. Give an Overview of Yourself:
When the interviewer asks you to “Tell me about yourself”, make sure to highlight who you are now and some of the achievements that led you to this moment. Cater your image to that of the company’s, showing how you would be a good asset to the team.
6. Ask Questions & Follow-Up:
When the interview wraps it is important to ask questions about the company to show you have an engaged interest in the position. It shows that not only are you trying too show your suitability for the company but also the company’s suitability for you. After the interview, it is crucial to follow up to again show your interest and dedication to the role.
